As the most successful private basketball training organisation in Australia, we understand basketball today. We acknowledge that Australian training methods need to evolve to meet international standards. AUBD’s Squad Training Program represents our response to this ever changing industry, with a focus on developing younger juniors at the highest international standards.
The AUBD Squad is a high intensity training program that focuses on developing individual skill specifically ball handling, shooting, defense, passing and overall basketball IQ. AUBD is also a big believer in peak, physical conditioning so there is consistent fitness theme and a great deal of running incorporated into the program.
Our existing members are very passionate about the game and their development. They are generally very driven and highly motivated young men that are looking to be challenged in a structured environment.
AUBD expects new members coming into the program to have a certain level of skill deficiency and / or not be as proficient as current members. AUBD’s methods and style of play are not readily taught in Australia. As long as players can are willing to be challenged and are passionate about the game they will be fine in the program.
AUBD was the reason I was able to pursue my dream and play collegiate basketball. Not only did they help in getting me recruited, but they offered me a platform to get ready for that next step, whether this was practice, diet, or sessions in the gym. Moreover, AUBD were the first program to really give me a chance to grow as a player in both skills and confidence, something which is often overlooked. I’m truly thankful for the hours Sedale Sr., Jr., D-Mac, and, dare I say, Lanard put in, as without their help I would not be in the position I am in today.
Although I wasn't that great of a player, looking back getting up for training and all that were some of the days of life given how much I love the game. For someone like me that has ADHD and having tried a few medications here and there, my mind never felt lighter and sharper than those days after training in the morning. I really wished I could have taken more advantage of the platform that AUBD offered.
I started at AUBD when I was 15, back when there was only 20 kids in the program. Coming in at a young age and staying there for five years was huge for me. The coaching we got there was unbelievable, the detail, the personal attention, the skill development and work ethic was on another level. Not only that, it felt like we were part of something.
When I joined AUBD in 8th grade, it proved to be the defining point of my basketball career, transitioning my game from a raw, scrappy athletic one, to disciplined, high level one where I could now play above the rim. I owe all elite aspects of my game to AUBD, and without it, there's no question I would be somewhere other than enjoying a college basketball life right now.
The Monday and Wednesday sessions each week provided an opportunity to really practice and compete in a “game like” setting, with a strong emphasis on athleticism and effort. AUBD provided a platform for me to not only get better as a player but also to develop a work ethic that I’ve taken into other areas of my life.
Without AUBD, I don’t know where I’d be today. I’ve known since joining the program I had the right people in my corner who wanted the best for me. They gave me all the right tools and knowledge necessary to reach my goals and be anyone I wanted to be. It hasn’t been all about basketball either. More so about making me a better person and preparing me for the real world despite the avenue I took.

Because of the AUBD Academy I was able to get to the US, study, and then realise what I wanted to do with my life. After AUBD I’ve noticed that a lot of the lessons that were taught there can also be applied in real life, the whole aspect of working hard when no one is watching you particularly stands out to me. I’ve always looked back on my time at AUBD with fondness because of the passion and joy that everyone brought every single morning.

When i joined AUBD in 8th grade, it proved to be the defining point of my basketball career, transitioning my game from a raw, scrappy athletic one, to disciplined, high level one where I could now play above the rim. AUBD directly led to the opportunity in receiving a private school scholarship, where I would be exposed to further high level basketball, which in turn facilitated the opportunity to pursue a university scholarship; one which I am currently about to start my junior year of. I owe all elite aspects of my game to AUBD, and without it, there’s no question I would be somewhere other than enjoying a college basketball life right now.
Furthermore, the college (or American) style of coaching at AUBD – with emphasis on dicipline, conditioning and coachability, prepared me for the rigors of college level coaching.
